Coils & Air Cups

by milmast » November 17th, 2014

Hey guys! Come next summer I want to drop my car to the ground but am unsure of which set of coils to get, and/or should I get air cups.

I've been stuck between BC racing coilovers and Megan Racing coil overs.

BC Racing BR Series Coilovers : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E0PQ5GE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=31LLYSAJXRRD5&coliid=I1DJSZMGJLTT3H
Megan Street Series Coilovers: http://www.amazon.com/Megan-Racing-MR-CDK-HA08-Adjustable-Coilovers/dp/B001W7AUPU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1416238928&sr=8-5&keywords=Megan+Racing+Street+Series+accord

I've only heard good things about the BC's, but the Megan's I've heard that they're good and bad... What are you guys running? I want to drop it because right now even with my H&R lowering springs, its not low enough for me.

If you're willing to save up the money and buy yourself an air setup. you'll be able to achieve the low you want; maybe even perhaps lower and also be able to raise up to be able to drive. its costly but IMO worth it.

As for coils, I have Megan EZ which works fine for me for the meantime.

You'll find lots of 8th gens on Megans. But I haven't heard many good things about air cups if you're talking about systems like UAS.

air cups are very different than conventional air setups while requiring nearly the same investment. cups are meant to raise when needed and so at their lowest setting you are at your low coilover height. generally smart driving while low would make cups unnecessary.

Well from the looks of it, I can get a set of BC Racing BR coil overs along air cups for about 2 grand, whereas a full air system would run me about 6 after everything (ballpark). With the coil overs, I can set whatever height I want and then either raise or lower my car an extra 2 inches. I think its just as good as a full on air setup, however only a third the price.

The reason why I want the adjustability is because the roads around me are a hit or miss. Some roads are great, however some other roads will even bottom out a Jeep with careful driving.

You can piece together a full air setup for way less than 6k. YoLowAccord (on Instagram and a moderator here) has about 4k in his, with nice components in it. Either way, if you're driving an Accord on roads that will "bottom out a Jeep with careful driving"... there's no hope for the Accord at all, regardless of suspension setup.

REALLY?!!? I'd actually love to get a quote than because I want to go low, with the ability to raise it.

I may have been a bit exaggerative with the bottoming of a Jeep but the roads are pretty bad. We have 2 seasons where I live; winter and construction.

Cups are not what you are looking for. Like doom said, they are only to raise the car up over an obstacle and arent meant to be driven on really. Ive gotten several members full air ride setups with all top of the line stuff for less than 4k...
