COUPE: Bigwilly's Build Thread

by Bigwilly » November 20th, 2014

Hey Guys,

I thought I would introduce myself and my ride. The first car I bought myself was a 2004 Accord LX 4-cyl Sedan. It was a great car and got me through collage. I put a huge sound system in and threw some 20s on it. Looked good but I was wanting something faster. So I traded it in and bought my 2008 EX-L 6-6 Coupe in February of 2012. I laid low with modifications for the first year, but threw on the 20s I had on my previous Accord. Here she is when I picked her up from the dealership.

First thing I did was take it to get tinted, and put HIDs in both the Lows and Fogs, both 6000K.

I put the old 20s on and rode around 4x4 style for that summer.

After that first year of paying down student loans and saving some money, I started to get into modifying my Accord. I bought a Takeda SRI, BC Racing BR type coilovers, TSX Rear sway bar, ATLP Quad Exhaust with the ATLP J-Pipe and high flow 3rd cat.

I bought some lightweight rims to reduce some unsprung weight. They are 18x8 +43 Ro_Ja R25 rims made by Rays. They only weight 21 lbs each (without tires). They are wrapped in Hankook Ventus V12 evo tires. I also bought some Function and Forum lugnuts to go with them.

To tie in the blue color I sanded down the strut bar and painted it to match the lugs.

I felt the stopping power of the Accords is very weak from the factory, so next I bought some Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads. They are an upgrade over OEM, but honestly not as much as I was hoping for. They do provide better stopping power especially when they are hot.

When I was gearing up for the spring of 2014, I threw on the old 20s again just for kicks. I plasti dipped the chrome around the grill and the emblems on the trunk. I think the dipped grill totally changes the front end and gives it a much meaner look.

As of right now I still have a P2R intake manifold spacer and Fastline steel braided clutch line waiting in the garage to install. I am currently saving up for the J37 intake manifold and either the ZDX or TL SH-AWD throttle body to match to install the manifold spacer. I would also like to get the P2R ported intake runners going at the same time as well.

The next big things I want to accomplish are getting the RV6 High flow pre-cats, and a clutch and flywheel. I'm also still waiting on the K-tuner reflash as it will be an essential piece of the puzzle to get over the 300WHP goal. I know its a lofty goal but that's what I am shooting for. After that then I an planning on the LSD from the TL's to be able to put that power to the ground.

Here are a couple I found. The one with the puddles is because I was heating the hangers and cooling them with water to try and adjust the fitment better.
