DIY: OEM Ambient Button for Custom Footwell/ Interior LEDs

by Brian » November 12th, 2014

In this thread, I will be showing how I wired my LED footwells. There will be two parts, the first part is the LEDs will turn on with your Parking lights and the second part will also turn on with the Parking light but you have the option to turn it off and on.

Tools/ Materials

Zip Ties
Drill with Small Drill Bit
Mimi Add-A-Fise with ATM 5 amp Fuse
LEDs of your choice
Speaker Wires
T-Taps (Areas where I said add a T-Tap, you can solder the wires)

OEM Material for Part 2
- Honda Ambient Button (08E10-TA0-1M035)
- Honda Crosstour 3 Hole Garnish (77302-TA0-Y01ZA)
- Blank Cover (77755-SVA-A00ZA)

PART ONE

PART TWO

Let's start off by me showing you how to set up the button before all the wiring begins.
Image
Make sure the Button is in this position or everything will go wrong

Pin 5- Positive, this completes the circuit for the on/off function
Pin 4- Power for switch
Pin 3- GROUND for Switch
Pin 2- Power/Live wire for illumination
Pin 1- GROUND for illumination

I had extra Pigtail pins from my Inspire Mirror Wiring so I used it for a clean install, but you can easily take the button apart to solder the wires directly to the pins.

Here is my final result, don't mind the button on the Blank Cover, that is my "Booty Call". (The red things you see is tape, the Blank Cover is loose so I added tape to tighten it up.

This is what I want to do it for couple more items in my car, first my demon eyes on headlight. So I can use same wiring set up, but would you able to draw a diagram for 3 way switch. One way stays on regardless, middle off and second way it will come on with parking lights.

Negative sir. That might require more then just wires. Might require resistors.

Sorry been busy, get a long zip tie and start poking on one side and you should see it come out the other.

There's a hole you can easily run wires through. When I did my Inspire mirrors I think I tied my wires around the end of a coat hanger and put that through the hole

Thats why i said use a long zip tie. Its stiff enough to go through but not hard enough to puncture anything.
